Where is this Sheng Puer from?

Qianjia Zhai may sound like a niche place, but it is the birthplace of the "World's King of Wild Tea Trees." Over 2,700 years old, it is one of the oldest wild tea trees ever discovered in the world.

Qianjiazhai is located in Zhenyuan County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, an autonomous county of the Yi, Hani, and Lahu ethnic groups, and is part of the Ailao Mountain Nature Reserve.

The Ailao Mountains are a region with remarkably well-preserved biodiversity and plant communities of the same type at the same latitude worldwide.

Located at an altitude of 2100-2600 meters, with an average annual temperature of 12°C and a 98% coverage of virgin forest, the tea trees coexist with a 2700-year-old wild tea king tree. The humus soil is up to 3 meters thick, giving the tea a natural "wild mushroom and honey aroma." It has been certified by UNESCO as a "core protected area of the origin of the world's tea trees."

About the Raw Puerh(puerh sheng):

The Sheng Puerh tea was said to have roots in the Tibetan tea trade, dating back to the Tang Dynasty. The Tibetan plateau could not produce their own teas, so they were dependent on what Chinese traders could offer. To make the teas last the months-long journey, the teas from Yunnan were all pressed into cakes and bricks for the sake of portability, which were then fermented during the months-long journey to Tibet. From there, the Sheng Puerh tea was made. Now, the rarest Sheng Puerh teas are being fermented for up to 30 years for the highest quality.

Unlike other teas that should ideally be consumed shortly after production, pu erh tea can be drunk immediately or aged for many years; pu erh teas are often now classified by year and region of production much like wine vintages. The Puer tea leaf gets better and results in a rich flavor during the aging process.

Sheng Puerh tea is biologically very similar to modern green tea. It presents vegetal and fruity flavors and aromas. Unlike Ripe (Shou) Puerh, it doesn't have an earthy or mushroomy taste. This is a tea that can present a face of bitterness and astringency that quickly escapes into a natural sweetness.

Tea shape: The dry tea leaves are yellow-brown, fat, and tender, densely covered with silver hairs. The brewed tea leaves are fat, tender, but pliable, with clear veins, a yellow-green color, and full of freshness.

Taste: This raw puer features its highly refreshing flowery honey fragrance and fruity plum. It tastes very mellow, round, and flavored. The tea soup has a smooth and full-bodied texture with a slight bitterness, but this quickly dissipates, followed by a refreshing sensation and a noticeable sweet aftertaste. The overall flavor is well-balanced, with a very high sweetness in the final infusions. Every sip of tea brings you a deep aftertaste.
