This Jingdezhen artwork gaiwan is handpainted with the Chinese lion pattern and by Jingdezhen experienced ceramic painter.

The pattern of this teacup comes from the traditional Chinese auspicious pattern - lion rolling embroidered ball, which is usually composed of two lions and an embroidered ball. The lion is the king of beasts and has great deterrence. It is a symbol of exorcism. The embroidered ball is often used in traditional Chinese weddings because of its bright colors and colorful patterns. It symbolizes auspiciousness, celebration, and good things. Therefore, the lion rolling the embroidered ball symbolizes eliminating disasters, exorcising evil spirits, and driving away all disasters, and good things are about to come. So it is often said: "When lions roll the embroidered ball, good things come afterward."

"Blue and white porcelain" (Chinese: 青花; pinyin: qīng-huā; lit. 'Blue flowers/patterns') covers a wide range of white pottery and porcelain decorated under the glaze with a blue pigment, generally cobalt blue pigment.
