Mise ware (Secret-color ware)
Mise ware originated from the Yue Kilns in Zhejiang Province, with its core production area located around Shanglin Lake in Cixi City, Ningbo—part of the ancient Yuezhou region. It was a premium tribute ware fired exclusively for the imperial court from the Tang Dynasty through the Northern Song Dynasty; it earned its name—meaning "secret-color ware"—because its glaze resembled ice or jade and its production formula was kept a closely guarded secret.

It was a type of imperial tribute porcelain produced at the Yue Kilns from the Tang Dynasty(618–907 CE) through the Five Dynasties period. Renowned for its unique formula and rigorous firing techniques, the glaze displays a lustrous, jade-like, and gentle emerald-green hue—often described as the "emerald color of a thousand peaks."

Historically reserved exclusively for the Wuyue royal family and the imperial court, the craftsmanship was once lost to history.
