In the Miao ethnic area of Guizhou Province, China, we call this tea mat homespun. Homespun is a term for old-fashioned cotton cloth, hand-woven. Homespun is hand-dyed with the juice of wild yam.

Overdying is the name of two dyeing processes. The first is to dip-dye with several dyes containing different pigments twice in succession, to obtain a color mixed with these pigments. The second is a fabric where two different fibers are blended or interwoven, and are dyed twice with two dyes with different properties, which is called overdying.

Please note that this is a process of random rubbing of plants, and the pattern of each piece of cloth is slightly different.
