This Jingdezhen artwork gaiwan is a combination of Pahua craftsmanship and enamel craftsmanship. The outside of the gaiwan is made of Pahua craftsmanship and the inner part is made of famille rose craftsmanship.

The Pahua craft process is known as "the flower of art blooming on porcelain". Pahua, scientifically known as "famille rose rolled porcelain", was produced during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It is a combination of famille rose and rolled porcelain, and is famous for its complexity.

To make famille rose rolled porcelain, it takes four firings to get the finished product. The first is to fire the white ceramic body; the second is to brush a layer of glaze on the white body, use the pattern-burning technique to burn out the painted pattern, and then burn it; the third is to draw lines or patterns on the fired porcelain body, fill in different colors of flowers, birds, landscapes, etc., and then burn it; the fourth is to decorate the top or bottom of the porcelain body with gold powder, and finally burn it to get the finished product. The whole process must be done in one go without any draft, which is a great test of the craftsman's skills.
