Chinese lacquer craft has a long history. It appeared as early as the Neolithic Age more than 7,000 years ago. With the continuous development in different historical periods, it has supported rich contents such as hemp base, gold and silver flat peeling, and carved lacquer.

This is a decorative technique using Chinese lacquer, which is to layer colored lacquer (made by adding mineral pigments to natural lacquer) and gold powder multiple times. If you look closely, it looks like stars displayed on the surface of the tea set.

It is a white viscous emulsion that flows out of the bast of the lacquer tree after cutting the bark. It is a pure natural product. The lacquer juice is brushed on the surface of the object and can dry in the air to form a hard film of the original color. It is tough, durable, and corrosion-resistant.

Lacquer was originally used for sealing and reinforcement of production tools. For thousands of years, as people's understanding of its characteristics deepened, they not only prepared colorful lacquers, but also created decorative techniques such as inlay and mother-of-pearl, which gradually turned lacquer from a material into art.
